My Latest Quilling

I've been so busy and it seems like Christmas has snuck up on me! I have managed to make only two things the last couple of weeks...two ornaments. The first is an ornament of about 1/4 inch with the center spiral that is a 1/2 inch. I then sprayed it with a glaze coating. I love the sturdiness of it.  The next ornament I made for a sweet friend who had twin boys.  There is pulled out cotton in the background and then the two quilled babies in front.  On the tag in the front is their names and birthdate.  Of course this ornament doesn't come apart,so it was quite the challenge to place and put everything in. Hope you like it!

Arla Dofino Brand Cheese

So the last few years I have started to try to become a little more knowledgable about wine.  It's been interesting for someone who had never drank much and mostly had those tropical fruity things on a rare occasion. But, here in Florida I've found that wine is a typical drink of choice and what comes naturally with wine? Cheese, of course!  I have REALLY enjoyed that part!  I have always loved cheese and so I was of course excited to try some through BzzAgent.  They provided me the opportunity to try Arla Dofino's smoked Gouda.  The deep flavor and soft texture goes well with a nice red wine.  It also went nicely in a grilled cheese, with some other varieties.  Needless to say, I can't wait to try some of their other varieties. Thanks BzzAgent and Arla Dofino for the opportunity to try this smooth, soft cheese wrapped in a thin wax shell!  If you're curious about the brand here's a few facts of interest: They’re made with only a few natu

Nescafé Coffee with Creamer

I loooove getting to try out products before I buy!  There have been so many times I've bought something only to suffer through either eating it (yuck!) or having it lay around the house gathering dust because I didn't like it after I bought it.  I am a member of Smiley360 and today I received a goody box of Nescafé 2-in-1 coffee and creamer. When I usually drink coffee, I like to mix in flavored creamers and some milk.  Soooo good!  This is instant coffee with Coffee Mate creamer mixed in.  It wasn't too bad.  I had to add a little extra to make it creamier, but talk about a fast cup of joe!  If you're looking for a quick cuppa, don't hesitate to try Nescafé.  It's not like the real thing, but it would work to make a fast cup of coffee. The Fun Side of Having Children... And a Dirty Truck!

How many times have you sat down in your car or truck and looked around only to be grossed out from the condition of your seats and floorboard?  After little man had the flu the week before ( that was another fun time), I was all geared up to get back into the routine.  You know- work, taxi-driving, etc...  Anyway, as I sat down in my truck I took a really hard look around.  I cleaned out a few empty drink bottles, three jackets, karate equipment, and some dance stuff and was able to really check out my seats.  I was horrified!  I have tan leather seats and all the times that my kids have slid in all sweaty, they had literally turned them almost black!   Well, I didn't want to spend a couple hundred dollars on getting the truck detailed, so when I went to the store I picked up a canister of ArmorAll leather wipes.  I was hesitant to see how they would work, but it was well worth it.  To clean four captain chairs, I used the whole canister which contains 20 wipes.  I must admit, th

Innova's Natures Table Chicken and Turkey Dogfood

I first mixed some of the dog food with my dogs regular food and they loved it! After a few times, I let them eat it and they loved it! I haven't noticed my dogs chewing at their hair and skin as much so it seems to have calmed their irritation. They have been satisfied and clean the bowl! The food is small bits and easy to eat and has no grains. It includes chicken and turkey with fruits and veggies. I love that it is good for them. Although I would love to switch permanently, I won't because it's too expensive. However, it mixes well with my dogs regular lamb and rice formula and would be a great mix in! Follow Me!

Reminder of the Important Things in Life

As I went to let the dogs out this morning, I noticed something odd. The toy that Little Man threw in the pool yesterday caught my eye.  There sitting on top was the cutest thing!  It was a frog sitting there- just hanging on for dear life.  I took some pictures and gently lifted it out to safety.  I think that was a subtle reminder for me to keep taking notice of other things in life and not always focus on myself.  Keep looking for others in need and be there for them- to help them.

Retirement Card in Blue

It's quiet this morning.  My oldest is already gone to school and my youngest and hubby are still sleeping.  I just finished a card for a person who is retiring at my husbands office. I  used scrapbook paper for the card and covered it with blue striped paper. I then used quilling strips in navy blue to accent. The flower petals are one full light blue strip with a quarter of a navy blue  added, crimped, rolled into a coil and pinched. The leaves and stem are simply green strips crimped as well. On the inside, I wrapped the blue striped paper around and printed out the sentiment for the right side. Hope you enjoy! Fairly simple 😍  Follow Me!

Tutorial for Making a Quilled Heart

So I found an app on my IPad called Touchcast.  After playing around a little, I decided I would give it a try to see if I could do a tutorial.  I chose to make a simple heart out of two tear drops.  Here is the tutorial. I apologize for the little bit of trouble I had getting my pictures to disappear in the tutorial... Let me know what you think!

A preview of Barbara Delinsky's "Sweet Salt Air"

I had the opportunity of participating in the latest chatterbox from www.houseparty.com.  I received a copy of Barbara Delinsky's newest book "Sweet Salt Air" and it was a great summer read.  I enjoyed getting into the main characters Nicole and Charlotte.  The story is about two close friends who got to know each other on an island.  The story goes on to reunite them later in life and because of some drama that happened the last time they saw each other Charlotte is reluctant to go back but know she must to help her friend with an amazing cookbook that she is writing.  The story is easily relatable to anyone and you also learn about a few topics as you read.  A great summer read!  Check out her information and other books here...  http://barbaradelinsky.com

Desk Do-Over

I am blessed to live in a neighborhood with several neighbors around who have children close to the ages of my own.  The other day, one of my neighbors bought her daughter a new desk and was trying to give her old one away.  I didn't think we had room, but my daughter wanted it!  She had been doing her homework on her bed and the couch and although it was comfy, it's just not practical.  She begged for us to take it, so I relented.  The only problem?  The desk was white and her furniture is all black.  What to do?  I decided to paint it of course! The desk consisted of a desk and small hutch with a cork board strip running across the back.  My friends daughter had written on it and so after thinking how to remedy it, I decided to cover it with fabric.  I will show you the before and after pictures. The only problem I had with this project was the spray paint I initially started out with.  It was spraying like spatter paint and leaked out from the bottom of the nozzle.  All th
