Friendship

When my husband took a new job in Florida, I was apprehensive and excited at the same time. I was given the opportunity to stay home with my children. I am so thankful for that. While I worked full time in teaching, I was blessed with so many opportunities to help kids but I felt like I needed to do more with my own children. I felt like they were missing out on ME. Now that I've been home with them for 2 years, I am working again but only part time. I needed the feeling of success again. I needed my husband to feel like I was trying to help out and not make him feel like he was under so much pressure to provide for us. I know my new found job isn't much as far as money wise, but it helps provide a little extra income and it falls within the time frame of my kids school hours and of course summers off. I have just recently updated my profile on Myspace and created a new profile on Facebook. Don't ask me why, other than the fact that it is interesting to see what my friends

Political Rambling

Today as I was sitting outside on the sidewalk watching my son and three of the other neighborhood kids playing, I saw two more kids walking down the street. Now, usually this isn't a big deal, but something seemed out of place. Finally I realized what it was...one of the kids was wearing a home made sign out of cardboard and the other was carrying a bucket. As they got closer, I was able to read the sign. It read- Need a Car Wash? See Me. I thought to myself, now this is something. Here we are in America with the economic situation rocky as can be,real estate dropping, and all kinds of problems, but these two boys are doing something about it. Walking down the hot edge of the road barefooted, hoping for a prospect or two, they ask if we need a car washed. I think to myself, this is what America needs. Our youth are outdoing their elders. I've seen so many youth around this area with lemonade stands, selling their old Hot Wheels door to door, not to mention volunteering and sta

Can You Say Rain? Can You Say Pool Service??

Rain, Rain, Go Away, I won't have to fill the pool today... or tomorrow or maybe even the next month! I can't believe the amount of rain we're getting here in Florida. A few weeks ago I was having to fill the pool with the hose once a week. Being a first time pool owner, I stupidly asked how I was supposed to fill up our pool. Of course, the pool guy said, "You know, with a hose..." Duh! Well, today the pool is now past the concrete edge and we have had at least 4 in. the last two days. Okay, so now I know how to fill it, but what do I do get rid of the excess water? I know, duh! I'll just let the kids show me their new tricks. i.e. cannonball, the pencil dive, etc. That will most certainly get the water out quickly enough. I have learned so much about taking care of a pool these last two months. Unfortunately, not so much voluntarily as much as by force! Our old pool service decided it was too expensive to travel here in my area, so I had to pick a

Sibling Rivalry

My two kids are your typical brother and sister. Being nine and five, they have their own ideas, opinions, and personalities. Of course there are going to be conflicts between them, but they also have their moments when you sit back and think that there couldn't be anything better than being a Mom! Take this week for instance: summertime and the living sure hasn't been easy! They scream that familiar phrase that millions of kids shout out everyday," MOM.....I'm bored!" Then you have to be the SuperMom and have a brilliant plan of action. Anyway, being the brilliant SuperMom that I am ( no, not really), I became quickly tired of hearing the television and the fighting and said," Okay guys, you have to come up with a plan of action!" My oldest looked at me like I was insane and then looked at her brother. Quickly she said," How about a board game?" Not two minutes later, blinking back the tears of being such a great Mom and thinking that letting
