Desk Do-Over

I am blessed to live in a neighborhood with several neighbors around who have children close to the ages of my own.  The other day, one of my neighbors bought her daughter a new desk and was trying to give her old one away.  I didn't think we had room, but my daughter wanted it!  She had been doing her homework on her bed and the couch and although it was comfy, it's just not practical.  She begged for us to take it, so I relented.  The only problem?  The desk was white and her furniture is all black.  What to do?  I decided to paint it of course!
The desk consisted of a desk and small hutch with a cork board strip running across the back.  My friends daughter had written on it and so after thinking how to remedy it, I decided to cover it with fabric.  I will show you the before and after pictures.
The only problem I had with this project was the spray paint I initially started out with.  It was spraying like spatter paint and leaked out from the bottom of the nozzle.  All three cans, mind you! I then went back and bought three new cans of a different brand (that didn't quite match) to finish the job...

Before painting the desk.  I have already removed the corkboard, wrapped it with fabric and put it back into place.
Close up of finished painted desk...
DONE!!! 😅

Another Ornament for Christmas

I found some more ornaments in my closet of craft stuff while cleaning this summer.  Obviously my cleaning didn't get very far being so delighted with my new discovery!  I found a cute clip art a while back of some holly leaves, so I thought about how I could do it inside the ornament.  After a few minutes, I was ready to start.  After gluing two leaves together, I gently pushed them inside.  I then used a plastic butter knife to keep them lying flat and let them dry.  I then added the third leaf.

Quilled Horseback Rider

I have a close friend who has trusted me to create several pieces for her and this was one of them. It makes me happy to have a new challenge and this was indeed one. I used a photo given to me as a reference and quilled atop a print out of it. I have the photo cut out in my pocket protector and am quilling on top of it careful not to glue the paper to the plastic. I use straight pins to hold it together until it dries. Here I’ve taken the quilled rider and horse off of the styrofoam backing and added to a background I added of layered trees. Here’s the final piece…
