Frustrated with Google+

Okay, I've spent quite a bit of time now using Google+ with my blog and it has been horrible.  If you use Internet Explorer then you can't see comments, can't comment, much less read comments!  I have taken the Google+ association off!  DONE!  I loved having it all connected, but it's frustrating trying to keep up with comments...Anyone else have trouble with this?  Also, I found out that in order to comment, you have to have a Google+ account.  I do NOT want to force anyone to sign up on something they don't want!!!  Hopefully I can now get back to what I enjoy and sharing thoughts with you!  :) On a side note, Hope that you had a blessed Thanksgiving and now we have to gear head first into Christmas!!  :)

Garage Door Gone Wild... I mean Wooden!

After we replaced our all glass front door with a more private, insulated door, my husband said, "All we need to do now is stain the garage door..." I was not expecting that! Our then neighbor at the time had already done hers and it did look nice, but I was nervous about how it would turn out!  You can see her picture here:  http://raquelenglish.com/garage-doors-made-to-look-like-wood/ I reluctantly asked her how she did it and set about getting started.  First, I washed my door with a scrub brush to get the chalky residue off. I then used a 3" fine-bristled brush to apply Old Masters Gel Stain in Dark Walnut to the door one square at a time.  I painted horizontally to make it follow the wooden grain. I advise you to wait and paint when the sun is not full on the door and when it's not going to rain that day or the next.  Raquel suggested to rub off the excess after painting, but it was not dark enough so I left it as it was painted with the brush.  Here is the befo

Another Ornament for Christmas

I found some more ornaments in my closet of craft stuff while cleaning this summer.  Obviously my cleaning didn't get very far being so delighted with my new discovery!  I found a cute clip art a while back of some holly leaves, so I thought about how I could do it inside the ornament.  After a few minutes, I was ready to start.  After gluing two leaves together, I gently pushed them inside.  I then used a plastic butter knife to keep them lying flat and let them dry.  I then added the third leaf.

The Cross

I decided to work on something new and I wanted to be a little abstract this time.  I had it in my mind the phrase "In God all things are possible." Even though I sometimes don't understand why things in life occur, I know there is a reason far beyond my comprehension for it happening. I always in the back of my mind think, trust in Him.  I used a metallic blues card stock for the cross which seemed to give it an almost cloud like essence with varied shades of blue and yellow quilling strips.  I first layered the card stock pieces for the cross and glued them down.  Next, I cut out the swirls of card stock in the aquamarine blue and metallic blues.  I then glued them down to where they almost flowed from the cross.  On top of the card stock, I then used different techniques of quilling to add the top layers.  I hope this picture conveys my thought process of His love flowing out to all. Have a nice day!

💐 Wow! Easter already?!

It seems like this Easter came so quickly and passed just as fast and we were back to school. Over the break, the kids and I went bowling with a neighbor, the movies with two neighbors, and I spring cleaned. As if that wasn't enough, I also cut out and painted 70+ stars for my daughters 8th grade dance. I'm sure you also saw the post of my grout that I sealed as well. Well, finally on Easter Sunday we dyed our eggs! I felt so behind the game! But, here are some pictures of our eggs.

Finally Found a Way to Make My Grout Look Like New!!!

Okay! As I was surfing Pinterest the other day I came across a blurb about cleaning grout. For the Floridians here that have a lot if tile it seems like there is a constant battle of keeping our grout clean. I have been known to either let it go( which doesn't make me or the hubby happy), pay a lot of money to clean it ( and be dirty from two kids and two dogs a day later), or be on my hands and knees for a week scrubbing to be dirty again by the time I finish an area! Well, after checking out many reviews I decided to try this stuff called Polyblend Grout Renew. I found it at my local Home Depot and it comes in many colors. For mine I tried Antique White. I'll be honest... When I started it was such a drastic change it looked like I was just painting over it, but as I finished, it looked amazing! It was like a brand new floor! Here are some pictures of the process. See for yourself and I quote my daughters reaction.."so when are you going to do the rest of the h

Going Green for St. Patty's Day!

Well, my pinky finger was released from the dr. and therapy last week. It seemed like a long time for it to heal! I guess that's how it goes when you get older.😖 I've ventured slowly back into quilling and thought I would make another card using shades of greens. Here it is and also a look at my pinky since I broke it the day after Christmas.

L'Oréal Paris Magic BB Cream

I was given the chance to try  L'Oréal's Paris Magic BB Cream.  I was thrilled, because I am always on the lookout for a light makeup that won't trigger my acne.  I am in my (ahem.....) forties and have to deal with acne.  If I wear very heavy makeup it covers it, but often times makes it worse because here in Florida it is frequently hot and humid.   If I wear lighter makeup, it's like putting up a sign....OOH SPOTS and REDNESS.  It just doesn't camouflage it.  Well, SheSpeaks picked me to sample it!   I washed my face with my usual acne cleanser and then followed the directions by putting it on lightly with my fingers.  I wanted to see what the cream did because the self-adjusting beads were supposed to blend into my skin tone.  After applying it, my skin felt much softer and it does help moisturize my dried out skin due to the acne medication.  However, it did not cover up my acne as much as I wanted.  I did let my daughter try it and it made her skin look so mu

Quilling on hold!!

Who knew that you could break a pinky finger and have this much of an ordeal? I was trying to catch my neighbors dog when it got loose and I grabbed its collar. I thought I just broke a nail until I realized it was actually my finger! Needless to say, quilling will be on hold for a while! Hope everyone else's New Year is off to a better start! :)
