“Bluebonnets” When the pastures are green in the springtime And the birds are singing their sonnets, You may look to the hills and the valleys And they’re covered with lovely Bluebonnets. Blue is the emblem of loyalty, They’re as blue as the deep, deep sea, Their smiling faces bring gladness, For they bloom for you and for me. Bluebonnets, so gorgeous and stately, In your mantle of blue and of green, In the spring when you’re in your full glory, You’re the loveliest sight ever seen. You’re beautiful when you sway in the sunshine, You look like waves of the sea, Ah, Texas was wise in her choice of a flow’r, So we offer our homage to thee. Bluebonnets, blue lovely Bluebonnets, More beautiful than all the rest. Texas chose you for her flower, And we love you best, Bluebonnets. “Bluebonnets” words and music by Julia D. Booth and Lora C. Another Ornament for Christmas

I found some more ornaments in my closet of craft stuff while cleaning this summer.  Obviously my cleaning didn't get very far being so delighted with my new discovery!  I found a cute clip art a while back of some holly leaves, so I thought about how I could do it inside the ornament.  After a few minutes, I was ready to start.  After gluing two leaves together, I gently pushed them inside.  I then used a plastic butter knife to keep them lying flat and let them dry.  I then added the third leaf.

Quilled Horseback Rider

I have a close friend who has trusted me to create several pieces for her and this was one of them. It makes me happy to have a new challenge and this was indeed one. I used a photo given to me as a reference and quilled atop a print out of it. I have the photo cut out in my pocket protector and am quilling on top of it careful not to glue the paper to the plastic. I use straight pins to hold it together until it dries. Here I’ve taken the quilled rider and horse off of the styrofoam backing and added to a background I added of layered trees. Here’s the final piece…

Quilled Ballerina

Quilled Ballet,  Dancer I wanted to try something challenging and I saw a picture of a ballerina that I thought might be the one. Well, here it is....I used a combination of beehive and regular quilling. This is in honor of my daughter turning 13 today! Happy Birthday!!! Quilled Ballerina Quilled Ballerina
