Music is the beat of a drum that keeps time with our emotions. ~Shannon L. Alder I don’t know about you, but I have come to welcome this. Not the idea of a pandemic, but this quiet peace and calmness in our home. I often think that our lives are a whirlwind of melodies and rhythms competing with one another to such a fast tempo that doesn’t stop unless from sheer exhaustion from the hustle and bustle of the day. At first, everyone was anxious and angry to be confined, but now adjusting to the new tempo, I’ve had the time to enjoy my children’s conversation and company again. Their faces are no longer completely buried in their phones and we’ve begun to work on a puzzle. It’s been nice to see them well rested and no stress from tests. I’m enjoying my moment at this new tempo. The melody and rhythmic pace is soothing and beautiful for now. I’m sad that it took this extreme method for it to happen, but my emotions are adapting to the slower steady beat of the drum. May you all be blessed to stay healthy and try to find your own steady beat during this unsteady time. #coronavirus2020 #drumbeatoflife #emotions #quilling #hardships #positivevibes #positiveenergy #washyourhands

Quilled Ballerina

Quilled Ballet,  Dancer I wanted to try something challenging and I saw a picture of a ballerina that I thought might be the one. Well, here it is....I used a combination of beehive and regular quilling. This is in honor of my daughter turning 13 today! Happy Birthday!!! Quilled Ballerina Quilled Ballerina

Quilled Pointe Shoe

My daughter took Pointe this year at dance and being the end of the year, I wanted to make a special thank you card for the staff.  I drew the outline for the shoe and then filled the spaces with 1/8 width quilling paper.

Another Ornament for Christmas

I found some more ornaments in my closet of craft stuff while cleaning this summer.  Obviously my cleaning didn't get very far being so delighted with my new discovery!  I found a cute clip art a while back of some holly leaves, so I thought about how I could do it inside the ornament.  After a few minutes, I was ready to start.  After gluing two leaves together, I gently pushed them inside.  I then used a plastic butter knife to keep them lying flat and let them dry.  I then added the third leaf.
