Take the Old and Create the New.

My daughter has grown so much the last few years.  We haven't bought her any new pajama pants in a while because she was just wearing everyday shorts while it was hot.  Come winter time, she tried on her old pants and they were too long to be capris and too short to be pants.  Instead of going out and wasting money buying more, I decided to cut them off and make them into shorts.  I brought out my dusty sewing machine, cut them off and sewed a hem into the bottom.  It wasn't very difficult and made something bend new!  (The actual hard part was remembering how to thread the machine and refill and replace the bobbin!)

Another Ornament for Christmas

I found some more ornaments in my closet of craft stuff while cleaning this summer.  Obviously my cleaning didn't get very far being so delighted with my new discovery!  I found a cute clip art a while back of some holly leaves, so I thought about how I could do it inside the ornament.  After a few minutes, I was ready to start.  After gluing two leaves together, I gently pushed them inside.  I then used a plastic butter knife to keep them lying flat and let them dry.  I then added the third leaf.

A Candy Cane Christmas

I decided I wanted to try another quilled ornament and so I chose a candy cane pattern. I quilled the first red and white candy cane as a whole. I then quilled the green and white candy cane into two pieces so that it would fit into the top of my ornament. I put the red candy cane inside first and then glued the two green pieces using tweezers to glue them onto the whole red and white candy cane.. After waiting a while, I then glued the bow on top using the tweezers to gently place it on top of the candy canes inside the ornament. I think I like the contrast of the two colors!
