Friendship

When my husband took a new job in Florida, I was apprehensive and excited at the same time. I was given the opportunity to stay home with my children. I am so thankful for that. While I worked full time in teaching, I was blessed with so many opportunities to help kids but I felt like I needed to do more with my own children. I felt like they were missing out on ME.
Now that I've been home with them for 2 years, I am working again but only part time. I needed the feeling of success again. I needed my husband to feel like I was trying to help out and not make him feel like he was under so much pressure to provide for us. I know my new found job isn't much as far as money wise, but it helps provide a little extra income and it falls within the time frame of my kids school hours and of course summers off.
I have just recently updated my profile on Myspace and created a new profile on Facebook. Don't ask me why, other than the fact that it is interesting to see what my friends are up to and to see how some of my former students have turned out. I used to teach middle school music and every year I had at least 150 new students. I actually miss teaching, but needed the break. Middle School takes a lot of energy, patience, and determination. Now with my profiles on these sites, I've gotten back in touch with some old friends, old students, and even new friends. It's nice to see that some of my first students are actually getting married, starting new lives, careers, and are just plain growing up! It's actually quite "addictive" as one friend put it. I love seeing what is happening with my friends while I can't actually physically be nearby. I can't wait to see who all I get in contact with and what they have to say....

Another Ornament for Christmas

I found some more ornaments in my closet of craft stuff while cleaning this summer.  Obviously my cleaning didn't get very far being so delighted with my new discovery!  I found a cute clip art a while back of some holly leaves, so I thought about how I could do it inside the ornament.  After a few minutes, I was ready to start.  After gluing two leaves together, I gently pushed them inside.  I then used a plastic butter knife to keep them lying flat and let them dry.  I then added the third leaf.

A Candy Cane Christmas

I decided I wanted to try another quilled ornament and so I chose a candy cane pattern. I quilled the first red and white candy cane as a whole. I then quilled the green and white candy cane into two pieces so that it would fit into the top of my ornament. I put the red candy cane inside first and then glued the two green pieces using tweezers to glue them onto the whole red and white candy cane.. After waiting a while, I then glued the bow on top using the tweezers to gently place it on top of the candy canes inside the ornament. I think I like the contrast of the two colors!
